D3.1 Optimisation of the grid command: single user
Summary: The aim of this deliverable is to determine the best method for the steering of the metasurface-based antenna array in a single user, single spatial stream (1 or 2 beams) scenario. After defining the general system model parameters, we formulated the mathematical expression of the optimization problems to search for Unit-Cells phases. Then we evaluated the different algorithms taking into account the considered criterion, the geometry of the metasurface, the number of bits of the quantized phases, the distance between the transmitter and the RIS. In this first deliverable of workpackage 3 both, model-based optimization approaches such as genetic algorithm (GA) or AI-based approaches such as deep learning (DL) have been investigated in static environment. Also, a brief state of the art on blockers and their prediction along with channel estimation techniques have been carried out and will be of particular interest for further works.
